Rail-type chain saw machines cut on a rail track and are widely used in marble quarrying. They give a straight, controlled cut along the bench and suit softer, more uniform stone.
Chain saw machines work well in marble and softer, more homogeneous stone where the cut is straight and rail can be laid along the bench. In hard, abrasive granite the economics move toward diamond wire.
Cut straightness follows the rail. Rail must be laid, aligned and supported properly — a poor rail gives a wandering cut that shows up as waste during processing.
Chain and cutter wear are the operating cost. We supply the cutting tools and advise on the wear pattern so you can see whether the chain is being run correctly.
