Track-mounted wire saw that moves itself around the bench
A wire saw carried on its own crawler chassis. The machine travels between cut lines under its own power, which suits large quarries where the cutting front moves constantly and laying rail for every new cut would dominate the working day.
The crawler undercarriage removes the rail-laying step between cuts. The trade is transport: the machine needs a route between benches and a decision about where it lives overnight.
Wire, pulleys and tensioning work exactly as on a rail machine — the cutting plane is still decided before the machine is positioned, and poor pulley alignment is still the first cause of uneven bead wear.
